Zara’s Spring/Summer shoe collection

In Personal, Shoes on February 26, 2011 at 4:57 PM

I am a big fan of Zara: an embarrassing amount of my skirts, jackets, trousers and tees are from there. One thing I have never done was buy shoes there because I haven’t seen anything especially appealing.

I was passing a Zara store on Yonge and Bloor in Toronto after work a couple of days ago and noticed amazing shoes on display and, naturally, I decided to go inside. Guess what? Most of the shoes there are something I would wear either to work or out. Here are some pairs I have my eye on:

Love at first sight

In Designers, Shoes on February 26, 2011 at 12:25 PM

I have never fell in love with a man at first sight. And until Thursday, Feb. 17 at 11 am, I have never fell in love with a shoe.

It was a regular Thursday at Flare’s fashion closet. I unpacking incoming merchandise that has just arrived from New York and I saw THEM.

Have you ever seen such a divine creation? I haven’t! I am not alone – all the girls who work at the fashion closet with me are just as infatuated with this Gucci shoe.

The last thing I’d say is if these shoes proposed, I would scream ‘YES’ in a heartbeat!

My Lanvin for H&M wish list

In Clothes, Designers, Shoes on December 8, 2010 at 5:30 PM

Ah.. Lanvin! When I have heard about the Lanvin and H&M collaboration, I think I almost fell of my chair. One of the most glamorous and recognized fashion houses in the world working together with H&M? What more could fashionistas ask for!

Although I wasn’t able to stand in long lines and get my hands on some of the pieces that came out on Nov. 20, I am still hoping to get some of them very very soon.

Here are a couple of items that I am obsessed about.

PS: Can you believe the shoes are only $99? Unbelievable!

My shoe closet favourites

In Personal, Shoes on December 8, 2010 at 5:09 PM

My boyfriend says I have way too many shoes. I think I don’t have enough pairs. I can’t say that I am obsessed with shoes because I know girls why simply can’t resist a new pair. Actually, scratch that. I love shoes, and I love them more than clothes, accessories or anything else in my closet! Today I am going to show two of my favourite pairs of winter shoes that I currently own.

1) I bought these Aldo booties about a month and a half ago. They are leather with a shearling inside and out. The heel is not too high, so they are very comfortable AND warm because of the shearling. I am not a huge fan of Aldo usually, just because their shoes (especially pumps) can be a little uncomfortable. So this pair was a pleasant surprise!
2)  These Roberto Venuti  suede fringe boots are my absolute favourites!  Despite the high heel, they are quite comfortable. Unfortunately, I cant wear them as much in Toronto because I get weird stares from people and let’s face it, its not the best feeling in the world!:) So i prefer to wear them in Minsk, where  people are used to seeing girls in high heels.

The most AMAZING woman in the fashion world

In Clothes, Shoes on December 6, 2010 at 4:01 PM

Forget Anna Wintour. Meet Anna Dello Russo. She has a separate apartment in Milan JUST for her clothes. She only wears an outfit once. Oh, and she also wears designer items that haven’t been shown at the Paris, Milan, London and NY Fashion Weeks just because fashion houses like Chanel, Versace, Balmain, Prada, etc. love her. Anna Dello Russo is currently working as a fashion director of Vogue Nippon (Japan), and has been working with Japanese and Italian Vogue for most of her career.

Also, she has the most amazing, unforgettable,outside-the-box style. What would she pick if asked to choose between clothes and shoes? “I would rather be naked, but wearing the most extraordinary shoes”.

Here are some of the advice that she has for dressing during the holiday season:

1. Don’t wear RED or GREEN outfits.
You will look alike a  Christmas tree.

2. Forget any COATS (also if outside it’s only 5 degrees).
You should make a big impactjust with your dress.

3. Choose a GOLD.
You will emphasize the idea to be a Christmas GIFT to unwrap.

4. Go to the hairdresser, facial, manicure and pedicure.
Don’t be worry to be OVER-DONE!

5. Choose between HAT and MAKEUP,
if you wear a hat keep fresh faceotherwise you will looks like a transvestite.

6. Wearing lots of JEWELLERY.
the sound of JEWELLERY banish bad thoughts and bad ghosts.

7. Focus on the SHOES.
Generally at Christmas party you spend a lot of time seated on the sofa.

8. Shoes have to carry all the magical atmosphere of Christmas:
Choose sparkling, shiny, eccentric, metallic, decorative, precious, brocade, extravagant, color-full, magnificent, enchanting, … PAIR OF SHOES.

9. Don’t be worry about your BAG,
you immediately will forget it on some chairs.

10.  Don’t throw yourself on the drinks and on the food.
It’s not POLITE!

How amazing?

In Clothes, Shoes on October 13, 2010 at 10:45 PM

How amazing is this girl? She was spotted on the streets of Stockholm, Sweden and before I saw the picture, I didn’t even know people in Sweden cared about fashion. OK, maybe I am exaggerating but you know what I mean! Sweat pants have been a strong trend by themselves and took over streets of Paris, Milan and New York. But who would have thought pairing them with the fur coat (which is this season’s BIGGEST trend) would have been a good idea? This girl is a genius. Also love her shades.

Lauren Conrad’s Style File

In Clothes, Shoes on October 13, 2010 at 10:39 PM

Since Lauren Conrad just released her style-guide book called (guess what!) ‘Style’, it’s time to take a look at some of her recent outfits and check out her style 🙂

Here is what Lauren had to say to Glamour Magazine about her style and life DOs and DONTs:

DO go with head-to-toe black if you don’t have a lot of time to get ready.
I’ll do a banded skirt with a tee, or leather skinnies and a blazer. It’s very chic, and it will always match.

DON’T get frustrated with friends after their breakups.
As silly as it seems when she’s still crying a month later, be there for her, preferably with frozen yogurt and romantic comedies, because someday it will be you

DO google your dates.
It’s like doing research before a job interview!

DON’T obsess over hair color.
I dyed my hair so it’s dark at the roots and light at the tips because I like it, but also because I’m bad at keeping up with my color.

DO know that accessories make an outfit.
You can be wearing something simple, but put on some costume jewels, a fake-skin clutch and great heels, and you’re dressed up.

DON’T shop online after a few glasses of wine.
I will get things shipped to me, and I’m like, What was I thinking?! But that crazy printed caftan seemed stylish to me at 11:30 on a Thursday night.

I have to say that I generally enjoy Lauren’s style. While she is a sweet girl and always dresses in a way that suits and shows her personality, I wish she would take some fashion risks already! One thing for sure: Lauren Conrad is a lady.

Kardashian Sisters Style File: New York

In Clothes, Shoes on October 7, 2010 at 12:22 PM

Kim, Kourtney and Khloe are in New York, opening their new clothing Dash store and shooting new reality show “Kim and Kourtney take New York”. I remember Kim recently said how different fashion is in New York compared to Los Angeles and saying that it is “on another level”.

Obvious trends from Kardashians?

– animal prints- zebra or leopard are big

– structured coats, jackets and blazers

– baggy knits

– Hermes bags in 1,998 different colors 🙂

– hair accessories – hats and turbans

– and the biggest yet: over the knee boots

Here are Kim and Kourtney arriving to NY:

Here is just Kim in several different outfits:

Here is Khloe:

Olivia Palermo is amazing: Volume 2

In Clothes, Olivia Palermo, Shoes on October 1, 2010 at 9:22 PM

Keep in mind that Olivia does not have a stylist, unlike all the “fashionable” stars, aka the Kardashian sisters and many others actresses, singers and reality tv stars. Palermo should get her own reality TV show. I will watch it;)
